This week’s RIAC - Motorsport Ireland classic video from the RPM Motorsport collection is highlights from the 2002 Ford of Ireland Formula Ford Zetec Championship. Paul Dagg proved to be the man to beat in 2002 in Formula Ford Championship blending speed, experience and consistency to take the title in his Mygale. He faced stiff competition from leaving cert student Charlie Donnelly, defending champion George McAlpin and Cork’s Alan Dwyer. These highlights include action from round 2, round 6 and the championship finale. This programme will be available to stream below from 7pm on February 24th Next week’s upload will see a return to Circuit of Ireland highlights, this time from 1992.

This week’s RIAC - Motorsport Ireland classic video from the RPM Motorsport collection is highlights from the 1982 Circuit of Ireland Rally. The 1982 Circuit of Ireland saw Jimmy McRae take his third consecutive win on the marathon 5 day event. Over 63 stages totalling 550 miles, McRae showed his class and experience outpacing reigning World Champion Ari Vatanen, Audi quattro mounted Hannu Mikkola, Russell Brookes and his teammate Henri Toivonen, who showed strong pace until an accident saw him break two bones in his hand. McRae was setting himself up as Circuit of Ireland specialist. Before the decade was out, he would take 4 more wins on the event. This programme will be available to stream below from 7pm on February 17th. Next week’s upload will feature Formula Ford action from 2002.

It is affiliated to the authority for world motorsport, which is the "Federation Internationale de l'Automobile" (FIA) based in Geneva and Paris. The FIA recognises in each of its member countries, one sporting authority, in Ireland that is Motorsport Ireland. The Role The role reporting to the Board of Directors and the President of Motorsport Ireland will be to manage the organisation from a commercial, governance and operational perspective. This will involve all aspects of a member-based organisation and will include (but not limited to) the following core areas;
The ideal candidate will have proven experience and credibility in the management of a member-based organisation and will have a demonstrable track record of achievement in leading an organisation in the hospitality, sport & leisure or the business services sector. The candidate will also have experience of working with an active Board and Committee structure and will act as a key adviser in the development of the organisation over the coming years. Having persisted with an ageing ST-165 Toyota Celica since 1992 and having not won an Irish Tarmac Rally Championship title since 1986, Austin McHale rolled the dice in 1997 by moving up to an ST-185 example. McHale managed to take a debut win in the car but only after early leader Andrew Nesbitt crashed out in dramatic fashion. This programme will be available to stream below from 7pm on February 3rd. Next week’s upload will see action for 2002 Irish Kart Grand Prix held at Nutts Corner.
