​The 2023 RIAC Pioneer Run will be held on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September.  This event is for antique and veteran cars (pre-1919) only, and for flat tank motorcycles.  
We have reserved thirty rooms at the Moyvalley Hotel and Golf Resort, where the enjoyable 2022 RIAC Pioneer Run was based.  We have agreed these special rates for our 2023 event:- Double/twins €129 BB per room, per night, with single occupancy €119 BB per room, and triple room €159 BB per night; cottages €220 BB per night. These rates apply to both Friday and Saturday nights.  An organised group dinner of three courses will be available on Saturday night at €40 per person, payable to the hotel.
The car entry fee (€95)  includes a main course Sunday lunch for two people, with choice of two dishes.  The motorcycle entry fee (€45) includes a main course Sunday lunch for one person.  Additional lunch tickets may be purchased from the hotel if desired at €25 per person.
We urge you to book your rooms now in order to secure the accommodation.  Contact Joanna Opawska at the hotel at joanna@moyvalley.com or on +353 46 954 8000.  Make sure you mention the RIAC Pioneer Run when booking in order to avail of the agreed special rates.  Accommodation and meals are payable directly to the hotel.
There will be an optional shakedown run on Saturday, with the main run taking place on Sunday.  More details in due course.
Each entrant will receive the RIAC Pioneer enamel badge award as in previous years.

The Board of the Royal Irish Automobile Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Conor Faughnan to the role of Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Faughnan served for many years as a Director and principal spokesman for AA Ireland and is well known as a media commentator on transport & safety matters. He has been working as a private consultant since leaving the AA in 2021.

​The RIAC operates from its historic premises on Dawson Street in Dublin with Member facilities, clubhouse, car park and archive. The Club is a founding member of the FIA, the Federation International de l’Automobile (FIA) the world governing body for Motorsport.
“I’m delighted and very honoured to lead such a prestigious institution as the RIAC.” Says Faughnan. “The Dawson Street facility has been a feature in Dublin for well over a century, since the early days of automobile use in Ireland.”
RIAC Chairman, Arthur Collier said “We are very pleased that Conor is joining us. He brings enormous experience and expertise to the role and is the ideal appointment to lead us into our next chapter.”
The Irish Automobile Club is one of the oldest of its kind in the world. It was established in 1901 and is steeped in history (the ‘Royal’ prefix was added in recognition of its humanitarian work for Irish soldiers during the First World War). It organises Member events, classic & collectible car events, and services to motorsport competitors and organisers.
Mr Faughnan will continue to provide media commentary and to retain certain other interests. He will take up his role with RIAC with immediate effect.

​We at the RIAC and with the support of Motorsport Ireland are delighted to announce that the “Picnic in the Park” in aid of “LauraLynn” is once again in Marlay Park this year. Last year was a great success and thanks to all who participated and most importantly supported LauraLynn. We hope that this year you will enjoy a nice afternoon and be able to support such a worthy cause. So polish your cars, dust off your picnic baskets, and put the date in the diary and register.
