This week’s RIAC - Motorsport Ireland classic video from the RPM Motorsport collection is action from the final round of the 1996 Irish Tarmac Rally Championship, the Cork 20 International Rally. With Bertie Fisher having long since wrapped up the 1996 title, a host of drivers were out to claim their first international win on the Cork 20 with the local trio of Liam O’Callaghan, Frank O’Mahony and Liam McCarthy being the hot favourites. O’Callaghan surged into a massive lead but a dramatic mechanical failure in the closing stages ended his rally allowing Gabriel Snow to pounce and claim his one and only international win. This programme will be available to stream below from 7pm on September 30th. Next week’s upload will feature highlights from the 1991 Cork 20 Rally as Kenny McKinstry set about trying to make Irish Tarmac Championship history by winning the overall and Group N titles in the same season.

This week’s RIAC- Motorsport Ireland classic video from the RPM Motorsport collection is action from the 2001 Yokohama Fiat Uno Series. A popular budget class throughout the 90s and early 00s, the Fiat Unos always provided door to door action in Mondello Park. This race from 2001 showed why the series was so popular with a full grid and action packed racing. After a red flag due to a dramatic crash involving Jenny Ryan, the race resumed with Quentin Smith pulling clear to take the victory ahead of Brian Hade. This programme will be available to stream below from 7pm on September 23rd Next week’s upload will feature highlights from the 1996 Cork 20 where local favourite Liam O’Callaghan was aiming to take his first international rally win.

Having wrapped up his fourth Irish Tarmac Rally Championship in 1996, Bertie Fisher went to the Isle of Man that year to chase the one trophy missing from his cabinet, the Manx International Rally. With strong European Championship opposition, including Armin Schwarz in a works Toyota Celica, Fisher excelled, surging into a comfortable lead until engine issued sidelined him early on day 2. In the end, Schwarz cruised to a comfortable win as he flung the Celica around the island in spectacular fashion. This programme will be available to stream below from 7pm on September 16th. Next week’s upload will feature Fiat Uno racing action from 2001.

Having received his big break from Prodrive and now with a factory specification Subaru Legacy under his right foot, Colin McRae spent the 1991 season delivering on his eye catching performances of the previous seasons. With three wins to his name in that year’s British Rally Championship, McRae’s fourth win of the season was one of the most impressive of the lot, destroying the opposition on the torturous roads of the Isle of Man and all bur securing his first British Rally Championship title. This programme will be available to stream below from 7pm on September 9th. Next week’s upload will feature highlights for the 1996 Manx International Rally where Bertie Fisher continued his quest to try and conquer the island event.
