Club 
Membership 
​When was the Club founded?
  • The Irish Automobile Club – as it was first known – was formed at a meeting on 22 January 1901 and is one of the oldest motor clubs in the world. Further information here

Are you solely a member only club?
  • Yes.
What are your facilities and services?
  • A reading room, boardroom,24-hour garage, valet parking,  external car wash/interior clean (booking required), members events, archive membership, reciprocal clubs, Clubhouse Restaurant and La Ruelle Wine Bar. 
​​​Do you have accommodation? 
  • No. We do not offer accommodation at present. 
​How do I book the boardroom ?
  • The boardroom can be booked by emailing membership@riac.ie 5 working days in advance. 
What are the opening hours?
  • Club Garage – 24 hours 365 days a year 
  • Dining at La Ruelle - see here
  • Office – Mon- Fri 8am – 4pm
*The Office and Restaurant hours can change due to public/bank holidays please see news section for updates 
Can I bring a guest?
  • Yes. A guest can accompany a member to the clubhouse, restaurant, wine bar and board room. Guests are not permitted to use the garage and must sign in at reception. 
Do you have a dress code?
  • A neat and tidy appearance using traditional business casual attire as a guide is recommended.
Are there any restrictions on usage by ladies?
  • No. There are no restrictions on usage for our lady members or lady guests in the RIAC.
Are children allowed in the Club?
  • Yes. They must always be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Garage
Do I get my own parking space? 
  • The RIAC garage is members only access and runs on a first come first serve basis. You are not allocated a space. 
Can anyone park in the garage ? 
  • No. The RIAC garage is members only access. 
Can my associate member and I park at the same time ?
  • No. Only one car can park at a time in the garage. double parking is not allowed. 
How long can I park my car? 
  •  No car or motorcycle may be kept in the Club Garage for a continuous period of more than 14 days after which the car or motorcycle must be removed from the Garage for a clear 7 days before being re-admitted for a further continuous period of 14 days. (club rule ​29.6) This  must be  pre approved by the garage via email info@riac.ie at least 5 working days prior to arrival date. 
Can I park a van/trailer ?
  • You can park a van with a  max height of 2.41 M or 7ft 8”. with no roof rack ,that has been pre approved by the garage email info@riac.ie and has no advertisements. Trailers and caravans cannot be parked in the club. (club rule 29.3. & 29.4)
Reciprocal Agreements 
Do you have a reciprocal arrangements?
  • Yes. The Club holds reciprocal agreements with a number of clubs around the world available to our Full Town and Full Country members. 
How do I visit a reciprocal club ?
  • You can request a letter of introduction via info@riac.ie (minimum 5 working days prior to visit). All other arrangements must be made by the member with the reciprocal club directly.  Further information here ​
What are your membership fees?

How do I join ? 
  • ​​​Fill in a application form and return it  to the RIAC office via post or email info@riac.ie before the last Thursday of the month for board approval. 
What if I do not have a proposer ?
  • If you do not have a proposer we can arrange an interview with our club interview panel. 
What is my restaurant allowance ?
  • The allowance is part of your membership subscription, this varies based on type of membership. You can view your credit balance on the RIAC app or the online membership login.  ​They can be used in the Clubhouse Restaurant – Mon – Fri 9am to 3pm or La Ruelle Wine Bar- Wed - Sat 5pm to Midnight ( booking required.)
     Please note you will need your membership card  to redeem the credits and they will expire on the 30th of November. ​
Can I share a membership ?
  • No. Membership is strictly non transferable. You can add one associate member (spouse/partner) by upgrading to one of our family memberships. Please note you will share your parking/restaurant allowance and cannot park at the same time. ​​

Dining 
​What are your dining facilities?​​
  • Monday - Friday 
  • Lunch Service: 12pm to 3pm.​​
  • Wednesday to Saturday
    Dinner Service: 5pm. to 9.30pm.(booking required) 

Archive 
Do you have an archive ?
  • Yes. The RIAC Archive is Ireland’s only motoring and motorsport archive and is housed in the Club’s premises at Dawson Street, Dublin. Please contact  archive@riac.ie for further information.

Events 
Do you run events?
  • Yes. The RIAC's events committee organise a number of events annually open to members and non-members (when specified). See the current event listings here ​
  • If you wish to host a private event in the RIAC please contact info@riac.ie

Motorsport 
What is the RIAC's link to Motorsport Ireland ?
  • The headquarters of Motorsport Ireland are also located in the clubhouse on Dawson Street. For further information on Motorsport Ireland click here ​
How is the RIAC affiliated to the FIA ? 
  • The RIAC is the holder of the sporting power on behalf of the FIA in Ireland. This power is delegated on an annual basis to Motorsport Ireland.
