​This week’s RIAC - Motorsport Ireland classic video from the RPM Motorsport collection is highlights from the 1996 Manx International Rally.
Having wrapped up his fourth Irish Tarmac Rally Championship in 1996, Bertie Fisher went to the Isle of Man that year to chase the one trophy missing from his cabinet, the Manx International Rally. With strong European Championship opposition, including Armin Schwarz in a works Toyota Celica, Fisher excelled, surging into a comfortable lead until engine issued sidelined him early on day 2. In the end, Schwarz cruised to a comfortable win as he flung the Celica around the island in spectacular fashion.
