The R.I.A.C. has an extensive archive encompassing motoring and motor sport This activity receives additional support from Motorsport Ireland.

Ireland’s only Motoring Archive

The Club’s Archive is Ireland’s only motoring and transport archive. It comprises the Guinness Segrave Library together with an ever-growing collection of material – photographs, films, DVDs and other automobilia – relating to the history of motoring and motorcycling in Ireland. This ranges from mementoes of the Irish Gordon Bennett Race in 1903 to documents relating to the establishment of aviation in Ireland.

Included in the Archive are some of Irish motorsports most famous trophies as well as a very large collection of event programmes. In addition, the Archive actively encourages the production of publications relating to Irish motoring subjects and mounts occasional public exhibitions.

Access to the Archive is available to bone-fide researchers by prior appointment only (Phone (01) 6775141).

The ‘Friends of the Archive’ Group

The ‘Friend’s of the Archive’ Group was formed to allow those who wish to support the work of the RIAC Archive in recording and preserving Ireland’s motoring heritage an opportunity to be more directly involved.

Membership is open to all and a number of events and outings are arranged exclusively for members each year. Membership costs just €50.00 currently per calendar year and an Archive membership application form can be downloaded here.

A regular Archive Newsletter is circulated to members of the ‘Friends of the Archive’ Group.

Members of the RIAC are automatically included as Archive members.
